How do I book a class?

How long is a class?

Hand building class 2-hrs (Pottery and Still & Clay and Wine)
Glazing class 1.5-hrs
Wheel throwing class 2.5-hrs

 

​How does the class work?

For our hand building class you will come into the studio for our 2 hr class where we will run through a couple of different hand building techniques. Then you have full creative freedom to make whatever you like with assistance from one of our helpful team. In two weeks time you are welcome to book back in for one of our 1.5 hr glazing classes where you will paint your work.. Then finally your work will be ready for collection 2 weeks after you have glazed and you are welcome to come by the studio to collect your work during our opening hours.

Wheel throwing is a 3 week wait time before you can book in for glazing but you can still pick up your glazed work 2 weeks from the date you glaze.

 

When can I come to collect my work?

We are generally open
Saturdays 1pm – 5pm

&

Sunday from 3pm to 6pm.

​Do you offer wheel-throwing classes?

Yes, we do! We now offer beginner wheel throwing classes that are a three-hour class. Please see our classes sections for available times, but do be aware that there are limited spots as there are only eight seats per class, allowing for more one-on-one time with your mentor.

 

I have a gift voucher, how do I redeem this?

You can apply your voucher code at the checkout. If you are having issues with your voucher code please get in touch either through the contact us form or at hello@thepotterystudio.com.au and advise us of your voucher number.

 

​Is firing included in all classes? How much will it cost?

Yes! Firing costs of 1 large piece, or 1 medium and 1 small, or 3 small pieces is included in your class cost. If you wish to make more than this you will be charged an extra firing cost on the day.

 

What is the firing process? Do I need to do this?

If you would like to use your works, in short, yes. The firing process involves letting your work go bone dry on the shelves and then it will be fired in the kiln for 12-24 hours, This takes 2 weeks from the date you created your work, at which point you can book in and return to glaze your work. Please carefully read through our Firing & Breakage Policy.

 

​How can I pay for my firing on the day?

We have both card and cash facilities at our studio.

 

​It’s been two weeks since I made my work, is it ready to be glazed and can I go ahead and book in a glazing class online?

Once your work has been fired and is ready to glaze we will text you (providing you scanned in) if it has been 3 weeks and you haven’t heard from us please get in touch

 

Do you supply wine for Clay and Wine and Sunday Wine classes?

These sessions are BYO – meaning you are your own bartender for the night. You can bring your own wine, beer, spirits or whatever you choose to drink, we will supply the glasses.

 

Can I bring some nibbles and snacks to the class?

We welcome, if not encourage, snacks in all classes! However, take caution with our wheel-throwing classes, as you will spend a lot of the class covered in wet clay.

 

Can my child/children attend a class with me?

Yes, children of all ages are welcome to attend under adult supervision. We recommend not bringing kids under 18 yrs to our Clay and Wine and Sunday Wine down sessions, although we leave it up to you and are happy for them to attend with adult supervision.

 

Do you run school holiday classes for children?

Yes, we run classes every school holidays, please see our classes page for the session times – these are normally released a couple of weeks before school holidays start.
