In this workshop, we’re slowing things down and exploring a more meditative and therapeutic side of working with clay through the creation of handmade labyrinths.
This project is all about process over perfection. Rather than focusing on creating something functional or polished, we’re using clay as a way to ground ourselves, reconnect with our hands and enjoy the calming rhythm of making.
Labyrinths are ancient symbols that have been used throughout human history to represent journeys, stillness, reflection, beginnings and endings. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has no dead ends — every path leads you towards the centre and back out again.
Throughout the workshop, we’ll create our own ceramic labyrinths using mostly our hands and simple tools, embracing organic shapes, texture, movement and intuition along the way.
You’ll learn how to design your own labyrinth patterns, shape clay without relying heavily on tools, carve pathways and refine textures. We’ll also create small rolling clay balls that can travel through the labyrinth, adding a calming, tactile element to the finished piece.
This workshop is less about perfection and more about mindfulness, creativity and giving yourself permission to simply play with clay.
This workshop is ideal for all levels and is a beautiful opportunity to slow down, experiment and reconnect with the creative process.
