JORDYN
Studio Teacher, Administration and All-time Legend
Jordyn began at our studio as a member more than 2 years ago and has been absolutely hooked to the pottery wheel ever since. With a passion for big curvy pots, wild throwing techniques and a kind nature, Jordyn is a world of knowledge when it comes to pottery and tackling challenges head-on.
“I sucked at pottery for quite a long time before it started clicking, and then with consistent practice and patience, one day it just happened and I was able to throw what was in my mind. From there I’ve been able to achieve new shapes which I sell at a roadside stall in Forest Glen. I love that you will never know everything, and that pottery is a hobby you can do for life and constantly be learning and improving”.
Jordyn, always says that nothing helps her unwind and be completely present like being behind a pottery wheel does. She loves to teach and the excitement that students show when just small little adjustments of hands and movement allow them to unlock the skills of pottery and believe in themselves!
She is an all-time legend in the studio, including rescheduling all your bookings, answering questions and making the studio look stunning with homegrown flowers and the occasional visit from her guide dogs in training!
AELISH
Studio Manager, Teacher and All-time Weirdness Encourager
Aelish joined our studio 2 years ago as a teacher, after falling in love with hand-building in some of our classes over the years prior. She then joined us as a teacher and learned the art of wheel throwing, glaze making and kiln loading (and fixing) which makes her the perfect all-rounder for whatever pottery questions you have.
“I remember when I first started at the studio so many of my friends thought I was just making clay pots for a living, which is maybe 1% of what my job is. Most of my time is spent in the kiln room, cleaning up clay, or attending to the back end of things. All of these things make me love teaching even more because that’s where all the fun really is! I love watching people be humbled by how difficult pottery can be, but also develop courage, perseverance and patience as they learn new skills and find joy in getting messy”.
As a qualified art therapist, Aelish really embraces the therapeutic aspects of pottery, art making and process over product/perfection. With a passion for helping people slow down, find patience, and learn to enjoy being ‘bad at something before you're good at it’, Aelish combines structured teaching and space for creativity to emerge. She’s also constantly working behind the scenes to make the studio run as a well-oiled machine.
We pride ourselves on being a creative, community-based, affordable studio,
run by a small team of local creative humans that simply love pottery!
We wouldn’t be able to continue without them, or without you!
