WE ARE MORE THAN JUST A POTTERY STUDIO.

We believe so strongly that creativity is the ultimate way to unwind and express yourself - no matter your skill level. We are born creative, and it’s time we find our way back to that part of ourselves!
Our studio is an open and welcoming space where you can relax, create, and actually just be yourself.
We’re about progress over perfection, process over product.

We’re a community brought together by a shared love for pottery, art, creativity and its power to connect us to clay, to ourselves, and to each other. In our warm, welcoming studio, creativity thrives - whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro.

At our studio, we believe pottery offers something rare in a fast-paced world: the chance to slow down, be present, and connect with our hands, our breath, and the earth.
It’s a grounding, meditative practice and a powerful reminder of impermanence and non-attachment.
Not everything will survive the kiln.
Not every glaze will turn out as expected. But there’s beauty in letting go and making space for the process itself.

We are committed to running a sustainable, community-focused studiothat prioritizes people and the planet.

Ceramics, while deeply rewarding, can have an impact on the planet — and we’re honest about that.
Clay is a natural, finite resource. Kilns require energy. Materials must be sourced.
Rather than turning away from these truths, we choose to work with them, actively doing things differently and more sustainably.

We handmake all of our glazes in-house using non-toxic, ethically sourced ingredients, steering clear of materials like lead or barium that can harm both people and the planet.

We recycle and reuse ALL of the clay used in our studio that doesn't make it into the kiln, even down to the trimmings from wheel courses and the slip water collected through sessions! We DO mix in some fresh clay with the recycle to keep its plasticity, so we have an always changing yet always effective recycle blend that has beautiful tones to it, with no wasteage!

We donate as much discarded, uncollected or unwanted work that we can! Or repurpose it in studio, so nothing goes to waste and nothing adds to landfill!
We also utilize solar energy to assist us in powering our kilns for all the many firings we have to do to keep up with your creativity!

We even go so far as to not use plastic bin liners in our bins, collecting and recycling all plastic, glass and metal cans/bottles at our local donation centre.

We pride ourselves on being a creative, community-based, affordable studio, run by a small team of local, passionate humans who simply love pottery.

Running a pottery studio is about much more than making pots and playing with clay. Our teachers bring creativity, patience, and a genuine passion for guiding learners through every step — from frustration to celebration, in a safe and welcoming space for all skill levels.
We are extremely transparent about expectations, the reality of clay, and non attachment practices that we honour as the best way through building a relationship with clay as a medium.

Behind the scenes, our team is always busy recycling clay, loading kilns, mixing glazes by hand, maintaining tools, managing 24-hour memberships, and yes, lots of cleaning. We also continually develop our own skills to grow as artists and educators.

We care about making clay sustainable AND affordable, by providing an inclusive space and community where creativity and connection thrive.
This studio is a true labor of love, and we couldn’t do it without our team or you.

Our simple goal: to share the quiet joy of pottery while staying rooted in care — for the earth, our materials, and each other.

Hear from (and about) some of our teachers below!

“I remember my first proper pottery class here years ago. I never imagined it would become my job, but I fell in love with how calm and focused it made my busy mind. On the wheel or handbuilding, I’m fully present and connected to myself. What I love most is seeing that same calmness in my students—the quiet moment, about an hour in, when everyone is completely absorbed in their clay. It’s a truly special experience.” - Aelish

“I struggled with pottery for a long time before it finally clicked. With patience and practice, I started making what I imagined. Now, I create new shapes I sell at a roadside stall in Forest Glen. I love that pottery is a lifelong hobby—you never stop learning or improving.” - Jordyn

Joining us at the end of 2024, Chloe adapts her teaching to support every student—even with classes of 18! Her gentle nature creates a positive, creative space, and her deep knowledge of art materials comes from her dedicated practice outside work. We adore her unique cow-inspired pieces, shaped by her childhood on a dairy farm.

"A little over two years ago, I started pottery with a 4-week course at The Pottery Studio to keep busy while my partner worked FIFO. What began as a hobby quickly took over my free time—and my garage! Pottery helps me slow down, pause, and stay present in a fast-moving life" - Riordan

"I started pottery as a complete beginner and quickly fell in love with ceramics. Becoming a member showed me the unique creativity of everyone working with the same medium.
Working with clay is humbling but deeply fulfilling. The hum of the wheel, shared laughter, and small wins make it joyful. It’s the peace, community, and personal growth that keep me coming back." - Jess

Katie joined us with a unique, boundary-pushing approach to pottery. Though new to the craft, her handbuilding skills, creativity, and passion quickly made her an inspiring part of our community. Starting at TAFE, she’s created everything from sculptures to quirky pieces full of personality. Eager to keep learning, Katie is mastering the wheel and aims to join our teaching team. Her kindness and dedication make her a fantastic teacher and person.
