In this workshop, we’re diving into lidded pots — one of the most rewarding forms to master on the wheel.
You’ll work through the process from shaping and closing your form through to separating, trimming and refining a fitted lid that sits neatly and securely in place.
We’ll focus on precision, thickness and control, exploring how to manage air pressure as you close your form and how to create a clean gallery for your lid. You’ll also learn how to separate the lid and body cleanly before refining the two pieces so they work together as one balanced form.
From there, we’ll look at creating a snug-fitting lid and balanced foot ring, as well as adding handles or knobs for both function and personality.
Finally, we’ll cover important drying and firing considerations to help minimise warping and keep your finished lid and vessel fitting together beautifully.
This workshop is perfect for intermediate potters who are ready to take their throwing to the next level and develop greater accuracy, control and confidence on the wheel.
