In this fun kids pottery workshop, we’re getting creative with clay and making two playful projects that are perfect for beginners — a cute cat pinch pot and a cheerful froggy plate.

These projects are designed to introduce simple hand-building techniques while encouraging creativity, confidence and plenty of imagination. You’ll learn how to shape a pinch pot, attach clay pieces securely, create coils, add details and transform simple clay shapes into fun characters.

We’ll start with the cat pinch pot, learning how to build the bowl shape before adding little arms, feet, ears and facial details. You’ll then move on to the froggy plate, where we’ll explore slab building, cutting shapes, adding coils and creating a fun character face.

The best part of this workshop is making the pieces your own. Your cat might be sleepy, grumpy or happy, while your frog can have its own completely unique personality. There are endless ways to personalise your creations and let your imagination take over.
