Kurinuki is a slow, meditative approach to clay that celebrates carving, texture, and the marks of the hand.
In this focused one-day masterclass, you’ll explore the Japanese technique of kurinuki - carving forms from a solid block of clay to create expressive, organic vessels.
Working intuitively, you’ll shape the exterior first before carving into the form, revealing the inside through subtraction. This process encourages patience, intention, and a deeper connection to the material.
This workshop is designed for makers with prior clay experience who want to explore a more sculptural, process-led way of working.
Please note this is not beginner friendly.
