Our 4-week beginner's Mixed Course is designed for those who are interested in learning the basics of BOTH HANDBUILDING and WHEEL THROWING.
Learn new skills, overcome challenges, and enjoy getting your hands into some clay as you develop the fundamental skills to set you up on your pottery journey.
Minimum age for attendees: 16 years old
Course runs for 4 consecutive weeks, same day, same time slot.

Learn the basic techniques of wheel throwing and handbuilding over 4 sessions with us in studio!
Find yourself forming a relationship with the clay as you begin to learn how it works through both methods of making.
You will receive guidance and feedback to help you refine your techniques and overcome challenges.
Produce a variety of pieces throughout the course, building your own personal showcase of work.
You can keep up to 8 standard pieces in this course, which will be a mix of both handbuilding and wheel work.
Glazing not included.
Your items will be available for collection or to glaze from 3 weeks after your last session.

Course Layout
Week 1: Basics of Wheel Throwing including centering, lifting and shaping
Week 2: Refining your wheel pieces including trimming and carving
Week 3: Introduction to Handbuilding techniques (slab and pinch pots)
Week 4: Handbuilding using coiling - making shapes
ALL SESSIONS are compulsory attendance. There are no makeup sessions. Each session is important for your skill development and essential to your learning. Please make sure you book a course month and time slot that you can attend.
